Capital P aka Pegasus was born in Dallas Texas on a cold fall night October 9th. Most of his early childhood years were spent in North Dallas with brief stints in Oak Cliff and frequent visits to the heart of Chicago Illinois. P was born into a single parent home where his mother for the most part took on all responsibilities of raising a man. Growing up P was able to grasp on to the hip hop community early, due to the majority of his neighborhood friends being black and from East Coast states. For the most part Capital P was faced with many discouraging words from his fellow Hispanic Americans with regards to the majority of his comrades not being Hispanic. This adversity helped P at an early age to understand the meaning of true brotherhood and how skin color played such an important role in people’s perception. Never willing to give up his hometown friends P was able to diversify himself to appeal to the masses. Now as an adult Capital P has found that his upbringing and adversity were only preparing him for the road ahead.
P is now owner and executive producer of Iron Chef Records; an independent record label which is sole purpose to bring music with multiple levels of diversity and flavor to the streets. Teaming up with some powerhouse companies in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex Capital P is set on taking talented underground hip hop artists and allowing them an avenue to release GOOD music. Capital P and Iron Chef Records is NOT set on following the trend or flowing upstream to avoid conflict. Instead you will find much of Capital P and Iron Chef Records recording artists music to be completely opposite of what is deemed “acceptable” southern music. At no point in time is Capital P or Iron Chef Records willing to compromise what we feel is GOOD music for fast food music.
Capital P first picked up production equipment when he was 16 years old. Later for untold reasons he was forced to rid himself of all music equipment. During the time he was able to produce music he was well on his way to a dominant career in the music industry as a supreme producer, producing music for various hip hop artists. Capital P has also participated on past projects such as E.D.C.’s mixtape at a young age.
P is currently releasing his debut album entitled ‘the Truth’ in which he takes aim at many of the music industries weaknesses and exposes the facts about common music industry practices. You can also find him on projects such as the Kixpo mixtape scheduled to be released this August 2008 as well as the Hip Hop Street Fire mixtape scheduled to be released later this year. P is also producing tracks for newly signed artist Guillotine the Kasino Champ for his upcoming album scheduled to be released later this year/early 2008. Not only that, P is also working on releasing some music for recording artist Leon the Pro from Diverse Soulz. Capital P’s production can vary on occasion, from soulful rifts to hard punchy kicks all the way back to abstract music, P is especially excited about working on Champ’s new album as most of the production will be very unique sounding.
P for the most part finds inspiration from such producers as: Black Milk, Marco Polo, Alchemist and many more. P has also found that his vocals tend to lean more towards recording artists style: AZ, Shyne, Danny V and many others. For the most part Capital P finds inspirations from the streets and continues to look for new sounds that can entice the ear.
